P.B. Academic School paid heartfelt tribute to the bard of Bengal, Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore, on the auspicious occasion of Rabindra Jayanti on 9th May 2025. The day began with a meaningful cinematic experience as students from Classes 1 to 5 watched short films based on Tagore’s timeless stories, giving them a glimpse into the poet’s profound narratives and humanistic themes.

The cultural celebrations commenced soon after with a soulful choir performance. Students rendered Tagore’s songs in both Bengali and English, filling the air with lyrical harmony and reverence. The highlight of the day was the eagerly awaited Inter-House Bengali Elocution Competition, where students expressed the power and grace of Tagore’s words with eloquence and passion.

Adding grandeur to the celebration, the four school houses staged mesmerising dance dramas based on Tagore’s iconic works—Chitrangada, Chandalika, Pujarini, and Balmiki Pratibha. With elaborate costumes, evocative songs, and expressive choreography, each performance brought alive the spirit and message of the original compositions. Gandhi House captivated the audience and judges alike with their powerful portrayal of Chandalika, securing the first position. Subhash House claimed the second spot with a graceful performance of Chitrangada, followed by Teresa House and Tagore House.

The celebration was a vibrant reflection of Tagore’s artistic legacy and the students’ deep-rooted connection to his vision of education, creativity, and humanity.

P. B. Academic School hosted the much-anticipated Festa Della Scienza Chapter 4, an inter-school science fest, on the 22nd and 23rd of November 2024, at its campus. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 16 prestigious schools across Kolkata, bringing together young minds to explore, compete, and celebrate the wonders of science.

The fest included a diverse range of competitions covering subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, Environmental Science (EVS), Robotics, and Computer Science, along with intellectually stimulating events like Debate and Quiz. Each event tested the knowledge, creativity, and problem-solving skills of the participants, providing a platform for innovation and learning.

The fest culminated in an exciting awards ceremony, where P. B. Academic School emerged as the proud winner of the first prize, showcasing excellence across multiple categories. National English School secured the second position, followed closely by Vivekananda Mission School in third place.

The grand success of Festa Della Scienza Chapter 4 was attributed to meticulous planning and coordination by the organizing committee, the support of esteemed judges, and the enthusiastic participation of students. This fest not only celebrated scientific knowledge but also fostered camaraderie and collaboration among young learners from different schools.

Festa Della Scienza Chapter 4 truly upheld its spirit of igniting curiosity and inspiring future scientists and innovators.

The much-awaited Annual Sports Day of P. B. Academic School was held on 8th December 2024 at the Eastern Railway Association Sports Stadium. The event was a grand success, marked by the enthusiastic participation of students, staff, and parents.

We were privileged to have retired Brazilian footballer Douglas de Silva as the Chief Guest for the occasion. His inspiring presence added to the excitement and motivated the young athletes to give their best.

The event commenced with a spectacular drill display by the students, showcasing their coordination and discipline. This was followed by the ceremonial March Past, where all the houses paraded in unison, exhibiting their house spirit and pride.

The day witnessed a series of thrilling events, including sprints, relays, and other track and field competitions. The athletes competed with great energy and sportsmanship, striving for excellence and pushing their limits.

The Principal, Mrs Madhuparna Andrews took the stage to present the special prizes, acknowledging the hard work and dedication of the participants and mentors. Awards were given out for Best Captain, Best Housemistress, Best Athlete, and other significant achievements.

The highlight of the day was the announcement of the Cock House Cup 2024, which was clinched by Teresa House. Gandhi House, Subhash House, and Tagore House followed next.

The day concluded with the national anthem, leaving everyone with a sense of accomplishment and a renewed passion for sports and teamwork. The Annual Sports Day 2024 will undoubtedly remain a cherished memory for all.

P. B. Academic School celebrated its much-anticipated Junior Concert on 16th November 2024, showcasing the incredible talents of its youngest stars. The event was a heartwarming musical extravaganza, featuring captivating performances that celebrated the evolution of music through the decades—from the swinging beats of the 1960s to the chart-topping hits of the 2020s. The event was graced by esteemed guests Mr. Abhijit Guha, renowned filmmaker of Tollywood, Mr. Debasish Kumar, MLA, and Mrs Lopamudra Malhotra, a prominent face in the fashion industry.

The tiny scholars of Nursery and Kindergarten took the audience on a mesmerizing journey through time. Their energetic performances captured the unique rhythm and charm of each era, leaving the spectators spellbound. With every beat, the young performers brought the spirit of the decades alive, making it an evening of joy, nostalgia, and celebration. The concert was a testament to their hard work and the dedication of their teachers, ensuring a seamless blend of music, dance, and storytelling.

Adding to the splendor of the evening, the students of Classes 1 and 2 presented a stunning musical drama based on Frozen. Through their soulful singing, delightful acting, and enchanting choreography, the children brought the beloved tale of Elsa, Anna, and Olaf to life. The audience was transported to the magical kingdom of Arendelle as the young performers captured the essence of friendship, courage, and love. Their rendition of the iconic songs, paired with vibrant costumes and engaging dialogues, earned thunderous applause from the audience.

The Junior Concert 2024 was a memorable evening that celebrated not only the evolution of music but also the boundless creativity and enthusiasm of our young learners. It was truly a night to remember!

The Think Tank Entrepreneurship Program at P. B. Academic School was held on 29th October 2024, showcasing the innovative spirit of young minds. Organized as an inter-house event, it provided students an opportunity to simulate the real-world experience of establishing a startup, with each house representing a different business idea under a budget cap of 20 lakhs.

The competition required each house to craft a compelling presentation detailing their business plan, followed by a question-and-answer session with the panel of judges. The event was graced by four prominent judges, each a budding entrepreneur in their respective field, who brought their expertise and industry insights to guide and evaluate the presentations.

After a series of impressive presentations, Teresa House emerged victorious. Their unique concept of offering virtual training to workers to enhance productivity and skill development impressed the judges with its practicality and scalability. The judges praised Teresa House for their forward-thinking approach, seeing potential in their proposal to bridge the skills gap through accessible digital platforms.

The Think Tank Entrepreneurship Program highlighted the talents and entrepreneurial drive within the students of P. B. Academic School, and the event closed on a high note with students inspired to pursue creative solutions to future challenges.

Pre-Puja & Grandparents Day Celebration at P. B. Academic School

P. B. Academic School celebrated Pre-Puja in grand style on 1st October 2024, with the event divided into two sessions. The first half, dedicated to Pre-primary to Class V students, was especially heartwarming as it included the participation of grandparents, adding a special touch of family togetherness. Esteemed guests Debolina Nandy, a popular singer, and RJ Jenia graced the occasion with their presence, bringing an air of excitement to the celebration.

The students showcased their talents through a variety of performances. Younger students delighted the audience with their energy in performances of traditional Puja songs. A beautiful dance drama was staged, adding a cultural flair to the celebration. A powerful sequence on women’s empowerment took center stage as students portrayed the symbolic battle between Durga and Asur, emphasizing the strength and resilience of women.

P. B. Academic School celebrated Teachers’ Day with great enthusiasm on 5th September 2024. The day began with students organizing delightful class parties, where they bonded with their peers and celebrated the importance of teachers in their lives.

Following the class celebrations, a grand cultural program was hosted in the school auditorium. The students showcased their talents through a variety of performances, including melodious songs, captivating dance numbers, and skits performed in both Hindu and Bengali, reflecting the rich cultural diversity of the school.

The highlight of the event was a vibrant fashion show, where students depicted various professions, paying tribute to the different roles that contribute to society. This creative segment left the audience in awe and received loud applause for its uniqueness and engaging concept.

The school rector, Mrs. Usha Andrews, graced the occasion with her presence, making the event even more special. She appreciated the efforts of the students and faculty in organizing such a memorable celebration.

The school principal, Mrs. Madhuparna Andrews, extended heartfelt wishes to all the teachers, acknowledging their dedication and invaluable contributions in shaping the future of students. The day concluded with a renewed sense of gratitude and appreciation for the teaching fraternity.

On August 24, 2024, the Interact Club members of P. B. Academic School organized a visit to the Kalyan Ashram Old Age Home as part of a digital literacy program. This initiative aimed to empower the elderly residents by teaching them basic skills for using mobile phones, bridging the digital divide, and enhancing their ability to stay connected with their loved ones.

A group of enthusiastic students, guided by their teachers, visited the old age home with a clear objective: to impart digital skills that would help the elderly navigate the modern world more comfortably. The session was designed to be interactive and hands-on, ensuring that the senior citizens could actively participate and learn at their own pace.

The program began with a warm welcome from the staff and residents of Kalyan Ashram. The students started the session by introducing the basics of mobile phone usage, such as making and receiving calls, sending text messages, and saving contacts. They also demonstrated how to use applications like WhatsApp and video calling, emphasizing the ease of staying in touch with family members and friends, regardless of distance.

Throughout the session, the students exhibited patience and compassion, answering questions and assisting each resident individually. The elderly participants showed great enthusiasm and curiosity, eager to grasp new skills that would help them remain connected and informed. The joy on their faces was evident as they successfully navigated their mobile devices with the guidance of the students.

This visit by the Interact Club of P. B. Academic School was a heartwarming example of community service, showcasing the positive impact that young people can have when they step forward to contribute to society. The success of this digital literacy program not only empowered the elderly but also instilled a sense of responsibility and empathy among the students, making it a memorable and rewarding experience for all involved.

P. B. Academic School celebrated Utsav, the cultural fest, on the 2nd and 3rd of August 2024. This grand event featured a wide array of competitions, including dance, fashion shows, singing, western band performances, cooking, basketball, and more. The fest attracted participation from nearly 18 schools, each showcasing their best talents and vying for the top positions in various events. The atmosphere was electric with excitement and anticipation, as students from different schools gathered to celebrate creativity, skill, and teamwork.

P. B. Academic School emerged as the overall champion of Utsav, demonstrating exceptional performance across multiple categories. Their students shone brightly in various competitions, particularly in the singing and western band events. The solo singer from P. B. Academic School won a guitar, a prize sponsored by Music Mantra Exclusive, for their outstanding performance. Additionally, the school’s western band was awarded attractive coffee mugs, also sponsored by Music Mantra Exclusive, for their impressive showing in the band competition.

G. D. Birla Centre for Education School secured the second position overall, with their students delivering notable performances in several events. Their participation added a competitive edge to the fest, and their achievements were a testament to their dedication and talent. Saini International School, Mahestala, claimed the third position, showcasing a commendable level of skill and enthusiasm. The spirited performances from all participating schools contributed to the vibrant and dynamic atmosphere of Utsav 2024.

The successful execution of Utsav at P. B. Academic School highlighted the importance of such cultural fests in fostering unity, creativity, and healthy competition among students. Utsav 2024 will be remembered as a significant celebration of youthful energy and artistic excellence, setting a high standard for future cultural events.

On 9th August 2024, P.B. Academic School hosted a delightful Kidz Kitchen Activity, celebrating the culinary creativity of its youngest students. The event featured Monica Liu, the esteemed owner of various restaurants in China Town, as the chief guest. The theme for this year’s activity was oriental cuisine, setting the stage for a vibrant and flavorful experience.

The students of classes Nursery and KG, with enthusiastic support from their parents, showcased their culinary talents by preparing a variety of delicious dishes. The menu included green Thai curry, BBQ fish, sushi, sticky rice, and many other mouth-watering delights, each reflecting the rich and diverse flavours of oriental cuisine.

The participants were judged on three crucial criteria: taste, hygiene, and presentation. The judging panel, led by the school’s principal, Mrs. Madhuparna Andrews, alongside Monica Liu, carefully evaluated each dish. The young chefs impressed everyone with their attention to detail, creativity, and the sheer effort put into their culinary creations.

The event was not only a celebration of food but also an opportunity for students to learn about different cultures and the importance of teamwork. It was a memorable day filled with fun, learning, and, most importantly, delicious food!
