18TH ANNANYA AWARDS 2023

Ms Madhuparna Andrews wins the 18th Tumi Annanya Awards 2023 organized by Lions Club of Rabindra Sarovar for her contribution to Excellence in Inclusive Education on 8th April 2023.

Ms Madhuparna Andrews is the Principal of the renowned educational institution, Purushottam Bhagchandka Academic School in Kolkata. She has been awarded for her contribution in the field of Inclusive Education. Tumi Annanya Awards is a unique award being organized for the last 17 years, awarding the women and men who are the biggest inspirations in the scope of empowerment for decades. 

The Department of Inclusive Education was initiated by our respectable Principal, Mrs Madhuparna Andrews as a Flagship Project. She being the brainchild of this noble initiative believes that every dark cloud has a silver lining and she started this with a ray of hope to reach out to the maximum number of children possible.

Under the umbrella of her able leadership, the Special Education Department has supported the children with special needs to turn them into successful and productive citizens.

On receiving the prestigious award, Ms Andrews commented that, “We will whole-heartedly try to transform these students to “Proud PBAsians” in the days to come.

Enjoying Science with Innovation:

“Innovation is seeing what everybody has seen and thinking what nobody has thought”

The Greater Kolkata College of Engineering and Management, Baruipur (JIS GROUP) organised the Scientific Innovation Competition (VIGYAN JIGYASA- 2023) on the National Science Day , 28th February 2023.

On this occasion, four students of Class IX from Purushottam Bhagchanda Academic School participated in the Model Making Competition . All the four students – Debarpan Chakraborty, Antara Dey, Arnab Das and Pritam Bhattacharjee put their brilliant ideas together to create a model on “Water Purification”. Not all people have access to safe drinking water. The students very thoughtfully portrayed the working of the mechanism, its importance and how the process of infiltration works.

Our students were successful in winning the prestigious “Special Jury Selection Project” in this category by their impressive model demonstration .

We are sure that the budding scientists of our school will continue showcasing their talents in all such scientific platforms in the future.

Inclusive education in P.B. Academic School

What matters is that we encourage them never to stop trying.” With this motto Purushottam Bhagchandka Academic School has seamlessly included “Inclusive Education” to cater to the need of children with Intellectual Challenge, Autism Spectrum Disorder and many such similar challenges. The mission of our Special Education Department is to support these children in the educational process and turn them into successful and productive citizens. We have specialized Special Educators, a need based curriculum and a variety of settings including a separate classroom based on the individual needs of each student. Financial Literacy Drive in P.B. Academic School

“An investment in financial knowledge pays the best interest”

In today’s age it is very important to make children from young age be “moneyaware” from a teaching them about money management, savings and investment. Financial literacy is the ability to make informed judgments and to make effective decisions regarding the use and management of money.” “The single biggest difference between financial success and financial failure is how well you manage your money. It’s simple: to master money, you must manage money.” With this ethos in mind, PBAS has organised a Financial Literacy Drive for its students in its school auditorium in association with Punjab National Bank and RBI on 17th February 2023. The event was graced by many eminent personalities from the RBI and PNB. Students from classes VIII to XI were explained about the importance of financial planning through skits and songs which had a deep impact on them. They were taught the importance of saving small amount and shown the power of compounding. A lot of students got the chance to open their personal bank
accounts with PNB on the spot. At the end of the interactive session, students were equipped with the knowledge and skills to make informed decisions in life regarding financial well-being.

Festa della scienza 2022

“Science is a way of thinking, much more than it is a body of knowledge.”

Purushottam Bhagchandka Academic School (P.B. Academic School) hosted its Annual Inter School Science Festival, “Festa Della Scienza, Chapter 2 on the 25 th and the 26 th of November 2022. The event was organised in collaboration with the Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer and the Mathematics Department.

The event saw the science enthusiasts from different schools get together to share their common interest in science and take it a step ahead by participating in various innovative competitions like
Quantamizion, Catalysis, Bioboss, Mathemagic, Codeathon and Fade to Nature. The students were tested on the basis of their creativity and to think scientifically.

The Science Quiz and the Debate competition provided a platform to test students’ knowledge on the history, significance and application of science. At the end, P.B. Academic School became the proud recipient of the winner’s trophy.

The Principal, Mrs Madhuparna Andrews not only congratulated the students on their remarkable work but also thanked the teachers and volunteers for contributing to the success of the event.

Pbas celebrates annual sports day

“Champions aren’t made in the gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them- a desire, a dream, a vision.”

Games and sports have become an integral element of present day education and Purushottam Bhagchandka Academic School have always enhanced the physical and mental development of children. The school celebrated the Annual Sports Day on 20 th November 2022 amidst lot of fun and frolic. The event was even more special as we were celebrating sports day after two long years since the pandemic hit us.

The sports programme began with the release of balloons by the Principal, Mrs Madhuparna Andrews. The March Past by the students of the four houses- Tagore, Gandhi, Subhash and Teresa along with the team of N.C.C was a show to watch out for. There were various races for the students of all categories starting from Class III to XII displaying their vigour and athletic talents. There were
exciting games arranged for both the teachers and parents.

The most exciting part of this happening day was the TUG-OF-WAR – it gave a chance to the students to display their house spirits. At the end, Subhash House was declared the winner of the Cock House Cup followed by Teresa and Gandhi.

The whole event was appreciably organized by the Sports Department with the able support of the whole PBAS family which made it a grand success.

PBAS kids have a whale of time at the Kids Carnival

“Life is like a carnival. The cotton candy is all the good things in life.”

Purushottam Bhagchandka Academic School,P. B. Academic School hosted the Kids Carnival on 19 th November 2022 in the school auditorium.

School days are an important part of educational life specially at the pre-primary and primary level. This carnival was organised to allow students to enjoy a day of fun activities and make school a more enjoyable place. The event was filled with exciting games, a prolific magic show, melodious music , photo booth , tattoo corner, creativity and many other delectable events.

Students enjoyed visiting various colourful stalls along with their parents. The excitement and enthusiasm of the students knew no bounds when they played games, won prizes and visited the food stalls.

The Principal of the school, Mrs Madhuparna Andrews praised the efforts put in by the parents and students for making the event a grand success.
