Honouring the Visionary: Shri Purushottam Kumar Bhagchandka

P. B. Academic School celebrated its much-awaited Founder’s Day on 23rd April 2025 to pay tribute to its esteemed founder, Shri Purushottam Kumar Bhagchandka, whose vision and dedication laid the foundation of the institution. The event was a heartfelt expression of gratitude and pride, marked by a vibrant cultural programme showcasing the talents of the students.

The celebration commenced with a soulful choir performance of “Something Just Like This”, setting a melodious tone for the evening. This was followed by a graceful dance performance that mesmerized the audience. One of the highlights of the evening was a powerful and thought-provoking Nukkad Natak, portraying the vital role teachers play in shaping young minds and futures.

Adding energy and rhythm to the occasion, the school band performed the classic hit “Summer of ’69”, leaving everyone tapping their feet and humming along.

The presence of the founder, Shri Purushottam Kumar Bhagchandka, along with his family members and the management trustees, added immense warmth and significance to the event. In his address, he extended heartfelt wishes to the staff, students, and well-wishers, acknowledging their dedicated contributions in the continued growth and success of the school.

The Principal, Mrs. Madhuparna Andrews, led the ceremonial cake cutting, symbolizing the celebration of the school’s journey and achievements. A felicitation ceremony followed, honouring individuals who have played an integral role in the school’s flourishing legacy.

Founder’s Day 2025 was a celebration of the school’s roots, its journey, and its unwavering spirit of excellence—a day to cherish, reflect, and move forward with renewed enthusiasm.

The day was filled with excitement and joy. A delicious breakfast and lunch awaited the students, featuring a variety of scrumptious dishes like fried rice, chicken, paneer, and other delightful treats. For a quick bite, the students relished French fries during the snack session.
The picnic had plenty of thrilling activities, with children participating in games such as Hula Hoop ring balancing, cricket and football. But the most exhilarating part was when the water in the resort’s swimming pool was drained, transforming it into an unexpected dance floor for the students. The music played, and the students couldn’t resist dancing and enjoying the moment.
With smiles on their faces and a bagful of wonderful memories, the students returned, cherishing the unforgettable day spent at the resort. It was indeed a day of fun, laughter, and bonding for everyone involved.

P. B. Academic School celebrated its Junior Sports Day with great energy and enthusiasm on 18th January 2025. The event was specially organized for students from Tiny Scholars to Class 2, with the delightful theme “Zootopia.”

The sports activities revolved around fun, animal-themed games like Hoppity Hop, Tom & Jerry, Jumbo Juggle, Banana Munch Race, Funny Pony, Fly High Lovebirds, Tortoise Trot, and Orange Rush for Classes I & II. Each game brought smiles and excitement as the young participants showcased their energy and zest.

A highlight of the event was the inclusion of special games for children with special needs, such as Pop-a-thon and Sphere Shuffle. These activities beautifully embodied the spirit of inclusion and ensured that every child felt like a winner. Each participant was awarded a trophy to celebrate their efforts and achievements.

The event also featured drill displays that captivated the audience, followed by exciting races for both fathers and mothers, adding to the lively atmosphere.

In her speech, the school principal Mrs Madhuparna Andrews commended the students for their enthusiasm and active participation, highlighting the importance of such events in fostering teamwork, inclusivity, and joy among the young learners.

The Zootopia-themed Junior Sports Day was a resounding success, leaving students, parents, and teachers with cherished memories.

The KG class enjoyed a fun-filled picnic featuring creative non-fire cooking activities, where they prepared simple snacks. They also showcased their artistic talents through engaging art and craft sessions, making the day memorable and joyful.

On 3rd February 2025, P. B. Academic School celebrated Saraswati Puja or Vasant Panchami with great devotion and cultural fervour on the school premises. The entire school was beautifully decorated with flowers, creating an ambience of piety and festivity.
The day commenced with the traditional “Anjali,” where students, teachers, and staff offered prayers to Goddess Saraswati, seeking her blessings for wisdom and knowledge. Following the ritualistic worship, a vibrant cultural program unfolded, beginning with the melodious rendition of Saraswati Vandana, invoking the goddess’s divine presence. This was followed by captivating performances, including mesmerizing folk dance and soul-stirring songs that showcased the students’ artistic talents.
A major highlight of the day was the much-awaited Inter-House Rangoli Competition. This year, the theme was the traditional and exquisite Bengal Patachitra, reflecting the state’s rich cultural heritage. The creativity and meticulous craftsmanship displayed by the participants were commendable. Gandhi House emerged as the winner, impressing the judges with its intricate and colourful rangoli design, followed closely by Teresa House, which secured the second position.
The celebration beautifully blended tradition with creativity, fostering cultural awareness and team spirit among the students. It was a day filled with devotion, joy, and artistic expression, leaving everyone enriched and inspired.

On the 22nd of December 2024, our team of 16 members (7 female & 9 males) left for Kerala Nationals.
After a fun and tiring train journey, we reached Thrissur, Kerala. After refreshing, we enjoyed the scenic beauty and mesmerising waterfalls of the place. Our team was set to leave for Munnar, where a hard-working and insightful day of Seminar from Sensei T.D. Johnson was waiting for us. 
On December 28th, our team participated in the tournament and won an astonishing 17 Golds, 7 Silvers, and 4 Bronze medals.

After an incredible demonstration of skills in the tournament, our team had a wonderful bus journey full of dance and enjoyment, with the amazing people of the Kerala team from Munnar to Thrissur.

The next day, our team went for a walk in the evening on the beautiful streets of Kerala. At night, we caught the train, reaching Kolkata on 31 December. Thus, we finished the year on a remarkable note.

The much-awaited Grand Winter Carnival of P. B. Academic School was held on 22nd December 2024, creating an unforgettable day of joy, excitement, and community spirit. Despite the inclement weather, a significant number of attendees turned up to celebrate the occasion, making it a resounding success.

The carnival was a delightful blend of entertainment, creativity, and festive cheer. From mouth-watering delicacies to an array of engaging activities, the event had something for everyone. The fun game stalls were a major highlight, featuring popular attractions like nail art, a tattoo corner, and adventurous activities such as a ropeway and bungee jumping. The live music corner kept the atmosphere vibrant, while the SUPW stalls showcased the students’ handcrafted creations, which were greatly appreciated by visitors.

One of the most anticipated moments of the day was the arrival of Santa Claus in the afternoon, spreading joy and distributing goodies among children. The event concluded with the thrilling raffle draw, where participants eagerly awaited their chance to win exciting prizes.

The school principal, Mrs Madhuparna Andrews expressed her happiness and gratitude for the remarkable turnout despite the weather conditions. She acknowledged the collective efforts of the staff, students, and volunteers in ensuring the smooth execution of the carnival.

The Grand Winter Carnival was truly a fun-filled fiesta that brought the school community together, marking a perfect end to the year with memories to cherish.
