Celebration

The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has always firmly believed and stressed on the holistic development of a child in body, mind and spirit. While academics and examinations are the Council’s prime concern, it realizes the importance and role of sports and games in a child’s life . With this aim, the Council hosts a multi-tier national level sporting event every year with all its affiliated schools to identify young talents.

This year P.B. Academic School was privileged to host the CISCE West Bengal and North East Regional Karate and Chess Girls Event, 2022 in our school premises on the 16 th 17 th and 18 th August 2022.. It was indeed a great honour for the school, staff and students to be associated with such a prestigious tournament. More than 35 schools from West Bengal were a part of this grand event. We were overwhelmed to have Mr Ranjan Mitter, the Principal Future Foundation school and the secretary ASISC WB and NE States,Co-ordinator of the CISCE Sports and Games as our Chief Guest.

All the participants and coaches put in their best efforts to make this event a grand success . Our school turned out to be the perfect host as everyone was immensely pleased with its hospitality. We are sure that the name of PBAS will be associated with many such celebrated events in the future.

P.B. Academic School celebrated the 75 th Independence Day on 15 th August 2022 with great patriotic fervor. The celebration started with hoisting of the National Flag by our Principal, MrsMadhuparna Andrews and our Management Trustees, Mr and MrsBhagchandka.

After the march past, a short cultural programme was arranged inside our auditorium. The school choir presented a beautiful rendition of patriotic songs . It was followed by a tri-lingual elocution in English, Hindi and Bengali. The dance number devoted to our Mother India and the finale performance dedicated to our soldiers totally mesmerized the audience.The student’s music band was a treat to the ears .They captivated the audience with melodious numbers.

The highlight of the event was the release of our school annual magazine called “VISION” and the admission forms from Pre-Nursery to Class XI for the session 2022-2023.

The function concluded with singing of the National Anthem. There is no doubt this celebration will go a long way in generating patriotic mood, promoting love for our nation an inspiring high esteem for the rich cultural diversity of our country.

5 th August 2022 was an important day in the school calendar of P.B. Academic School as it celebrated its Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony . The starting point of all achievement is desire. If one has the desire to succeed , one surely will. This event gave an opportunity to boost the morale of the students.The gala occasion was graced by Mr Subrata Bhattacharya, an eminent former footballer who played for the Indian National Team and Mohun Bagan.

The programme commenced with the Ganesh Vandana, an invocation to the Almighty, by the school choir. A well synchronized “Fusion” musical presentation enthralled the audience.

Then it was the time to applaud and reward the students for their sincere efforts during the previous academic session (2020-2021). The school honoured all its achievers for having attained a sterling record in the annual examinations and in the Boards, both ICSE and ISC. Special care was taken to ensure that all the deserving students from each category were honoured.

The Memorial Awards presented to the students for scoring the highest marks in various subjects in the Board Examinations, by our Principal, Mrs Madhuparna Andrews and the other teachers made the event even more special. She appreciated the efforts put in by the students and teachers and wished for them to come through with flying colours in future too. Scholarships were awarded to various deserving candidates .

It was indeed a proud moment not only for the recipients of the awards but also for their parents who had been invited to partake in the glory of their (child)ren’s success.

“Health is Wealth… so keep the Treasure safe”

Keeping this in mind a free medical health check up camp for the staff and students was organized by P.B. Academic School, Kolkata from 25 th July to 29 th July .Around seven renowned doctors from various hospitals were involved in conducting this camp. We at P.B. Academic School aim at “Healthy Living and High Thinking”. We believe that maintaining a healthy lifestyle by doing what is right for your body is the
most important factor.

The camp involved dental, eyes and ears check up for the students. This was followed up by seminars and counselling sessions for the students in order to take healthy precautions for healthy teeth and gums, eyes and ears. All the doctors emphasized the necessity for personal health and hygiene. We also had a dietician who advised the students to eat healthy balanced food and also to take up regular physical exercise. The inter-active session between the pre-primary parents and a paediatrician proved to be very beneficial where parents got answers to queries regarding child growth, balanced nutrition for their children and also regarding their physical and mental growth. A special session was conducted especially for the girls by a Gynecologist to raise awareness among the students on various gynecological problems and to provide insights into managing their body in a better way.

Overall the camp was successful in generating a favourable response among the students and they were indeed happy being a part of this healthy initiative by the school. PBAS resolves to conduct more such camps in the future to spread the message of healthy living.

The “Investiture Ceremony” for academic year 2022-23 was held on 15 th July 2022 with great solemnity. There was an aura of expectancy as the beaming faces of the selected student council members marched into the gathering. The occasion was attended by the proud parents of the selected prefects, where the latter were bestowed upon with the responsibility and they received their prestigious badges from the Principal, Mrs Madhuparna Andrews. The Prefect Council Members then administered the oath where in students pledged to serve the school and fulfill their responsibilities to the best of their abilities.

Kidz kitchen activity organized by PBAS was colourful and vibrant. The theme for 2022 was 'Unity in a Palette'…There were 11teams from PN to Kg .who represented 11different States of India and presented their respective cuisines. We had amongst us Honourable Mr. Ranjan Biswas(Chef) owner of Saptapadi restaurant and respected Ms Saswati Banerjee Director of Bijoli Grill ( Delhi branch) as our Guest sof Honour. Our principal, Mrs Madhuparna Andrews also graced the occasion.

Parents and children were dressed according to the respective states they were representing adding an aura of Unity in Diversity. This gave an extra upliftment to the cookery show of different states. Considering the parameters of Taste, presentation and authenticity, South indian cuisine was was declared the Second runner up, Rajasthani Cuisine was the First runner up and Bengali cuisine Bagged the Winner trophy.

The students of P. B. Academic School celebrated the International Yoga Day, 2022 on 21 st June, 2022 with great fervour and enthusiasm. The sole aim was to raise awareness about this ancient practice and to celebrate the physical and spiritual prowess that yoga has brought to the world.

The students from various classes took part in the celebration following the theme in 2022, “Yoga for Humanity”. The students demonstrated Surya Namaskars and various asanas . The School Principal, Mrs Madhuparna Andrews emphasized the importance of yoga and physical exercises in daily lives of the students. The event ended with a short meditation to promote inner peace and calmness.

MOVES OF THE CHAMPIONS

“In life as in chess, forethought wins”

P.B. Academic School in collaboration with R S Chess Academy on behalf of SARA BANGLA DABA SANGSTHA was honoured to organise the West Bengal Under- 7Open and Girls Chess Championship – 2022 on the 18 th and 19 th June 2022. Dibyendu Barua , the Indian Chess Grandmaster graced the occasion with his presence in the opening ceremony and the Management Trustee of P. B. Academic School Mrs Kirti Bhagchandka.

It was heart-warming to see the young participants playing their moves like stalwarts with rapt concentration and collected demeanour. It was also a wonder to see them finishing their rounds calmly.

The closing ceremony and the prize distribution was also a spectacular eventwith the presence of esteemed personalities like the Secretory of Indian Chess Federation, Syamal Dutta, Joint Secretary Rajendra Singh ,Tushar Chatterjee and Swapan Biswas. The principal of P. B. Academic School , Mrs Madhuparna Andrews gave away the trophy to Shruti Sarkar from north 24 Parganas who scored 6.5 points and was declared a champion in the female category.

All in all, it was a great experience for everyone present in the occasion and indeed a very proud moment for PBAS for meticulously hosting this esteemed competition.

PB Academic School has won two awards from Education World, competing with schools all over India.  It is No 1, in West Bengal for its “teacher-student-parent relationship”, and Top 5 in India as the “Emerging High Potential School”. We thank everyone for their continued support and belief in our school!
